THE LOCATION

Monteroni D’arbia SI, Italy

The property was hand-selected over dozens of others due to its perfect location in the heart of the Crete Senesi, one of the most scenic and desirable areas of Tuscany.

Perfectly nestled on a hillside in the Tuscan countryside, the sweeping vistas from San Gerolamo are unrivaled. Surrounded by rolling medieval hills you will encounter classic Tuscan scenes: farmers busy harvesting, rows of cypress trees lining the iconic white roads, and the towers of Siena peeking over the horizon.

Mere minutes from the historic streets of Siena, you can spend the day exploring the classical and Gothic architecture, an afternoon shopping in local markets, or get swept away with a romantic Italian dinner. Just 20 minutes south is Montalcino, one of the most important wine regions in the world. There you can walk down winding cobblestone streets, stop to savour Pecorino cheeses, homemade pastas, fruity olive oils, and the celebrated Brunello di Montalcino wines.

Whatever your dream Italian vacation includes, Podere San Gerolamo is the ideal location to make it all come true.

Adventure
  • San Gerolamo resides in one of the most desirable cycling areas in all of Italy, right in the rolling hills of Crete Senesi. In fact, the route of l’Eroica, one of the world’s most exciting amateur events, comes right past the property. Cycling is a major attraction for corporate groups and an experience that won’t soon be forgotten.
  • Experience the magic of flight, a bird’s eye view of Tuscany’s vineyards, olive groves and ancient townships; there’s nothing quite like flying in a hot air balloon over the Tuscan hills.
Culture
  • Siena and Florence host many museums with masterpieces by the great masters, from Leonardo da Vinci & Michelangelo, to Botticelli, Giotto and Donatello. Depending on your interests in history, art or sculpture – Tuscany has it all, spanning across time, styles and periods.
  • Get involved with music and emotions, melodies and atmospheres that tell of great passions and heart-rending tragedies in the heart of Tuscany. Treat your senses to a uniquely Italian opera, symphony or theater show during your stay.
Relaxation
  • At San Gerolamo you can unwind under the Tuscan sun right in your own infinity pool, warm up in the hot tub and sauna, or get cozy around one of the three different fireplaces.
  • Consider hiring a personal massage therapist or yoga teacher to meet you right on site and relax those vacation muscles within the privacy of your vacation home.
  • Indulge your time by visiting local thermal baths and spas. The Medieval village of Bango Vignoni is even built on thermal waters, and the town square is a pool fed by volcanically heated water that has its share of day spas that use the water.
Food & Wine
  • There is an abundance of local Tuscan wines to taste and estates to tour. We recommend our private-label wine upon arrival.
  • The annual wine harvest begins in October and the cold stone olive oil press takes over in November – the countryside comes alive with festivals, feasts and celebrations.
  • With fresh ingredients available year-round in Italy, any time is ideal to bring in a private chef for lessons on how to cook authentic Italian pizzas in our forno oven, or use the traditional Tuscan fireplace to grill your own white truffle-infused dish.
